The Frederic School Board meeting scheduled for March 25th will be held at 6 pm.  We ask any community members who choose to attend to maintain proper social distancing of 6 feet between individuals.

Dear Viking Families,


Governor Tony Evers announced Tuesday, March 17th, that Wisconsin’s K-12 schools are now closed “for the duration of the public health emergency.” (The previous tentative date to resume school was April 6).

"We're removing that deadline because we don't know if it's a realistic deadline,"   Evers said. "So we made it indefinite."

The Governor also issued a ban on mass gatherings of more than 10 people.  There are some exceptions to maintain necessary services.  Please read his full order below.



The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.  In accordance with Governor Evers order effective 3/19/20 school buildings will be closed to the public.  All extracurricular activities have been suspended for the duration of the order.  The Frederic School District is committed to continuing to support our Viking families and students. The Frederic School District would like to clarify we are suspending all on-site non-academic events beginning immediately. Classes will continue as scheduled 3/16, 3/17, and 3/18. Sessions will be suspended beginning 3/19 resulting from an order issued from Governor Tony Evers today. Please see the information below directly from



Important Update on School Closures Due to COVID-19


On Friday, March 13, 2020, Governor Tony Evers directed the Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm to issue a statewide closure of all public and private schools for pupil instruction and extracurricular activities as part of the state’s efforts to respond to and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. The mandated closure of schools will begin on Wednesday, March 18, with an anticipated reopening on April 6. The date of reopening is subject to change and districts may choose to close earlier if they elect to do so.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has recommended all non-essential large group gatherings be postponed or canceled.  Based on these recommendations the Frederic School District has made some new decisions related to our response in an effort to help slow the pace of spreading COVID-19. 


We will continue to communicate updated information regarding future events as the circumstances surround COVID-19 continues to evolve.
